Pay Close Attention to These World Series Sleepers
The MLB regular season finally gets underway on June 23, when a 60-game schedule will begin before concluding with the 2020 World Series in late October (fingers crossed).
The trendy picks to win the World Series will be your usual suspects: The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
However, there are several other teams you should consider this season, especially considering the likely chaos that will ensue from a shortened season in the middle of a global pandemic.
Who are the teams we love? We have these bets ready to roll.
So the Braves are technically probably not the deepest of sleepers to win the World Series, as they are listed as the fourth most likely team to do so, however they do have a very nice value at 15-1 to win the World Series.
Considering the Braves roster is loaded with a blend of young talent and savvy veterans, you’re getting tremendous value on a very good team. If you believe the Dodgers are a little too expensive, the Braves may offer that number you’re looking for.
If there is reason for concern with the Braves, it would be the fact they play in the best division in the National League, as the defending World Series Champion Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies are both worthy adversaries to Atlanta’s throne.

Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are just fun.
They have the best prospect in MLB.
They have the best bullpen in baseball. They have one of the best rotations in baseball. They have excellent managing.
And they’re used to playing in empty stadiums already, so the COVID-19 thing will be nothing new!
But the Rays deserve your respect, and for the reasons mentioned above, they are a very dangerous team in a 60-game season. Could this finally be the year the Tampa Bay Rays break through with a World Series championship?

Los Angeles Angels
The Angels still have their concerns at pitching, but they have Mike Trout!
They also made a major upgrade at manager, bringing on Joe Maddon formerly of the Chicago Cubs.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic took over the universe the Angels jumped into the free-agent market by swooping up Anthony Rendon and looked poised to possibly make a move on a Houston Astros team caught in a scandal.
Now that the long layoff has hit and other stories have pushed the Astros shenanigans out of the spotlight, it will be interesting to see if all the offseason controversy rolls off their shoulders.
If it doesn’t, the Angels have just enough talent and the right manager at the helm now to make some noise in the American League.
And again.. you get to root for Mike Trout!

San Diego Padres
The obvious major hurdle on the Padres quest to be a World Series sleeper in 2020 would be their division mates, the Dodgers.
But anything is possible in a shortened season during a pandemic, and if all anarchy breaks out in Major League Baseball, the Padres talented roster could become a dangerous out in October.
The Padres boast the best bullpen in the National League and stars Eric Hosmer, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr. They just added Tommy Pham in the offseason and brought back their vintage Padres brown motif.
The cupboard isn’t bare, and when it comes to futures odds, taking a 46-1 long shot isn’t the worst thing to do given the circumstances.

The Twins are much like the Braves in that they’re not the sleepiest of sleepers, but they have tremendous value at the number they are at.
While the Twins rotation leaves a lot to be desired, their lineup does not, as it is juiced up with sluggers Nelson Cruz, Eddie Rosario, and the newly-acquired Josh Donaldson.
This paired with the return of Miguel Sano and Mitch Garver, and the Twins lineup is imposing to say the least.
If the Twins rotation can outperform their expectations in a shortened season, the power in the Twinkies lineup could be enough to carry them to the promised land.

One of these years those who have proclaimed that this is the A’s year will finally be rewarded.
The 60-game short window could just be the key for the Oakland Athletics to finally get over the hump.
First things first of course, Oakland will need to get through a loaded division with the Astros and Angels prominently in the mix as well. The Texas Rangers aren’t expected to win the World Series, but they’re not quite in rebuild mode like Seattle is either.
The A’s won 97-games a season ago before falling in the wild-card game to Tampa Bay.
However with the widened rosters and shortened season, the ever-talented Athletics could make enough noise to make a run at a World Series crown.
