FanDuel Sportsbook Review

The brand made most famous for introducing the world to the craze of Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) has entered the legal sports betting market.

FanDuel Sportsbook has launched in several states around the country, with mobile betting available in:

  • Colorado
  • Indiana
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • West Virginia

In addition to these five states, FanDuel Sportsbook intends to expand its services into the newly legalized sports betting markets of Illinois and Michigan as well sometime before the end of 2020.

FanDuel Sportsbook also operates in the state of Iowa, but only at a retail sportsbook inside the Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque.  There have been no plans as of yet from FanDuel to launch mobile sports betting in Iowa but considering their biggest competitors in the online sports betting industry (DraftKings and PointsBet) are already operating online sports betting in the state, we imagine FanDuel can’t be too far behind.

FanDuel Sportsbook is the legal sports betting division of FanDuel Group.  FanDuel Group was founded back in 2009 when it was better known as the first-ever company to offer daily fantasy sports games for money in the United States.

It was a shrewd way to enter the American gambling market and to cater to an enormous niche of sports fans that were looking for a change from the traditional fantasy sports format, and for a way to gamble on that that didn’t involve doing business with wary offshore sportsbooks.

However, after the United States Supreme Court struck down the federal law prohibiting sports betting, the company would soon be acquired by European sports betting heavyweight, Irish bookmaker Paddy Power Betfair (now known as Flutter Entertainment).

In May 2018, the acquisition was made official, and FanDuel Sportsbook was born. A few months later FanDuel Sportsbook officially debuted in the state of New Jersey and has since expanded to the aforementioned states above, with plans to continually expand into any state with legalizing mobile sports betting.

FanDuel Sportsbook Welcome Bonus & Promo Codes

The American sports betting marketplace is becoming quite crowded and very competitive.  As a result, you will see sportsbooks try to stand apart from the crowd and offer enticing incentives to get new users to sign-up with them.

FanDuel Sportsbook is no different, and provides one of the better bonuses in the game.  New users to FanDuel Sportsbook receive a risk-free wager of up to $500 on their initial sign-up and deposit with FanDuel.

To qualify for the new user bonus, all you need to do is sign-up for an account at FanDuel Sportsbook and make a deposit.

From there, place your first wager up to $500, and if your bet is correct, your account will immediately be credited with the winnings for you to continue playing with or withdraw.

However, if your bet crashes and burns, FanDuel grants you a mulligan and that first wager is refunded back to you for you to use elsewhere.

It should be noted that this refund is not withdrawable and will be sent back to you as site credit.  In order for site credits to become withdrawable, a user is required to have a one-time playthrough before those funds can be withdrawn.

For example, if you deposited $500 and lost that initial wager, you would receive a $500 site credit back and would only be able to withdraw any wins you had from that credit, and not the credit itself.  So if you missed the first crack on a $500 wager but won the second wager with $500 of site credit, you’d only be able to withdraw the money you won from the second wager and not the combined amount.

FanDuel Sportsbook Promotions

One of the perks of getting acquired by a group like Paddy Power Betfair is that users at FanDuel Sportsbook will now get to take part in one of the many creative promotions offered by the Irish bookmakers.

Paddy Power has been known quite some time in the UK and all throughout Europe for their extravagant promotion offerings, and we’ve seen their influence begin to enter the American betting markets as well.

Some of these promotions may not be available in certain markets, but we’ve found that in general FanDuel Sportsbook will have a comparable promo running in its place in those markets.

Here are some recent examples of promotions that FanDuel Sportsbook have ran:

  • MLB Run Bonuses (Site credit for each run a team scores)
  • NHL First Period Insurance (Site credit if the team you bet on is leading after one period but loses the game)
  • Multi Sport Parlay Insurance (Refunds a parlay bet if you miss only one leg on a parlay of 5 legs or more)
  • 7th Inning Stretch Insurance (Site credit if the team you bet on loses the game after leading after 7 innings)
  • Crazy Odds on Local Market Teams for New Users (i.e. The Indiana Hoosiers were given odds of +101.5 in a game against Michigan State)

Essentially these promos end with the user getting a free bet of some sort for taking part in various rewards for betting on the different leagues.  All of these are very creative and wonderful marketing by the team at Paddy Power Betfair, and they are just the tip of the iceberg to the type of promotions FanDuel offers year round.

FanDuel Sportsbook Bonus Code

FanDuel Sportsbook does not require bonus codes for any of their promotions offered towards new users.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers one of the best mobile sports betting apps in the industry.

FanDuel Sportsbook App

After launching a state-of-the-art mobile app for its Daily Fantasy Sports games, it should be no surprise that FanDuel offers the same top-notch app for its mobile sports betting users.

The FanDuel Sportsbook app is available to both iOS and Android users, and has a smooth, user-friendly layout that’s very easy to navigate and do everything you want to do from within the app.

In comparison to its peers, FanDuel knocks their mobile betting app out of the park with the ferocity of a Mike Trout swing.

The best feature of the app is how intuitive and smooth the bet slip works.  On most mobile sportsbooks, the betting slip can be cumbersome and tough to navigate, but that is not an issue with the FanDuel Sportsbook app, as we were able to seamlessly transition from the bet slip back to main interface to continue browsing for lines.

The cashier within the native app itself also works great on mobile, and we were able to quickly jump back into the action after quickly busting on a couple initial trial wagers with the app.

Lastly, the live betting feature on the Fanduel Sportsbook app is nothing short of outstanding.  It’s very easy to find the live betting lines, and even easier to quickly lock in a wager when the odds are right to your liking.  The amount of action you have to choose from with live betting is also top-notch, with virtually every pro game available with live betting and a great amount of collegiate action also available to bet on live.

FanDuel Desktop Site

With the mobile app being so easy to use and featuring a modern, sleek look, it stands to reason that their desktop site is not far behind.

If you had this assessment, you would be correct, as FanDuel Sportsbook is just as easy to navigate and gorgeous in design on the desktop site as it is the mobile app.

The desktop site is seamlessly in sync with its mobile app, meaning if you can do it on mobile you can do it on the desktop site and vice-versa.

Because the desktop site is not working with a condensed amount of space, you’re also able to navigate the entire odds board for that particular day in an even easier manner than you’re able to do it on the mobile app.

On the left-hand side of the desktop site, FanDuel Sportsbook will have all the sports they offer action on.  In the center, you will have your menu of games/matchups to choose from with a rotation menu of promotions atop the matchup offerings.

Then on your right-hand side will be your bet slip, with the same simplicity offered as the mobile app.

It should be noted if you’re on your mobile device at the time you are wanting to possibly make a wager that you use the specific app itself, as this tends to work better than the desktop site on mobile.

FanDuel Sportsbook Deposit Options

FanDuel Sportsbook is very eager to help you start betting on sports, and they offer numerous options to help you get started with your initial deposit.

Deposit methods offered by FanDuel Sportsbook include:

  • Credit/Debit Card (Visa or Mastercard)
  • ACH (eCheck)
  • PayPal
  • Online Bank Transfer
  • Wire Transfer
  • FanDuel Prepaid Card
  • Check

The minimum deposit amount for any user is $10.

FanDuel Sportsbook Payout Methods

While FanDuel Sportsbook offers many methods to deposit funds, the options to withdraw funds are slightly more limited, but this is typically the norm with American online sportsbooks.   The withdrawal methods include:

  • ACH (eCheck)
  • FanDuel Prepaid Card
  • PayPal*
  • Check

The most common form of receiving a payout is to have the money wired directly into your checking account via an eCheck.  However, FanDuel Sportsbook will also offer you the opportunity to have a paper check cut and mailed out to you.  This method of course would delay how long it takes to receive your funds, but is an option offered by the sportsbook.

Another means to deposit and withdraw funds at FanDuel Sportsbook is to sign up for their exclusive FanDuel Prepaid Card which syncs up to your FanDuel account and allows for easy deposits and withdrawals back onto your card.  The card also serves as a Discover credit card, meaning it can be used anywhere Discover is accepted.

Lastly, a FanDuel Sportsbook user may also receive their funds through PayPal, but it should be noted that getting a payout via PayPal is only possible if the user originally deposited using that method.

FanDuel Sportsbook Betting Options

FanDuel Sportsbook has the same traditional offering of betting options and sports from which to bet on.  Those sports and leagues you can bet on at FanDuel Sportsbook include:

  • Basketball (NBA, College, WNBA)
  • Baseball (MLB, College Playoffs)
  • Boxing/MMA
  • Cricket
  • Hockey
  • Football (NFL, College)
  • Golf (All Tours)
  • Motorsports (All circuits)
  • Soccer
  • Tennis (All Tours)
  • Rugby/Aussie Rules Football

FanDuel Rewards Program

At the current date of this writing, there is no rewards program offered to FanDuel Sportsbook members, with the only rewards program at FanDuel catering to the Daily Fantasy Sports side of the company.

FanDuel Sportsbook Rating

If you’ve ever taken part in one of the Daily Fantasy Sports games offered by FanDuel you should be well acquainted to the high quality of services provided by FanDuel from their easy to navigate mobile app to the various promotions offered to keep users entertained all season.

FanDuel Sportsbook is no different, and while we would like to see a deposit match more than a risk-free bet on initial sign-ups for new users, the bookmaker itself is outstanding.  You can definitely see the positive influences of Paddy Power Betfair all throughout the sportsbook, and FanDuel is consistently seen as one of the best legal online sportsbooks in the United States for a reason.

The Hook Rates FanDuel Sportsbook:
9.2/10 – Outstanding
